This year, the UG medical entrance test was conducted on May 5, accommodating over 24 lakh candidates. During the exam, 1563 candidates at seven centers experienced time loss due to the distribution of incorrect question papers. Initially, the NTA planned to compensate them with grace marks, but this decision was later reversed.

In a Supreme Court hearing regarding the NEET UG examination’s irregularities, the Centre announced the cancellation of the grace marks awarded to these candidates. Affected students will have the option to participate in a re-test. Those who choose not to retake the exam will have their original scores (without the grace marks) considered final. Notably, only 813 out of the 1563 eligible candidates appeared for the NEET re-test.
